Restaurant Menu Descriptions
Write menu descriptions that help someone order. Not a poem on every plate. RESTAURANT Name and kind of food: [NAME, CUISINE] Price level: [CASUAL | SPLURGE] Voice: [SHORT | A BIT OF WARMTH] Dishes: [PASTE THE LIST WITH THE INGREDIENTS THAT MATTER] Allergens or diets we can stand behind: [LIST OR "do not label unless I marked the dish"] Words the chef hates: [LIST] Language: [LANG] FOR EACH DISH One or two lines. Lead with the ingredient or the method that changes the order, not "delightful." Mention heat, rawness, or a strong flavor. Include what is on the side if the guest would otherwise assume. No origin story unless the dish is named for a person I told you about. Also: a 30-word note for the top of the menu (how ordering works, sharing, spice), and three dishes that are too vague in my list — the question I should ask the kitchen before we print.
