Genre Book Cover Composition Prompt
Design a book cover image brief that leaves real room for title type. Most generated covers fail because the subject sits in the center and the title has nowhere to go. BOOK Title: [TITLE] Subtitle: [SUBTITLE OR NONE] Author name: [NAME] Genre: [LITERARY | THRILLER | ROMANCE | SCIENCE FICTION | NONFICTION BUSINESS | CHILDREN] Comparable covers (mood, not copies): [2 BOOKS OR "none"] One concrete image idea: [IMAGE] Tone: [QUIET | SHARP | WARM | OMINOUS] Must avoid: [CLICHES FOR THIS GENRE — e.g. hoodie on a rainy street] COMPOSITION Vertical 2:3. Describe a full front cover PLUS note the center third as a quiet zone for the title (sky, wall, water, fog) unless the concept is type-led. Specify: foreground, midground, background, the light source, and the restricted palette (3 colors by description). Title treatment: do not rely on the image model to spell the title. Ask for either no text, or text as a separate instruction I will set in layout. Default: no rendered title. I will add type later. Series mark: leave a small clear area at the top for a series line. OUTPUT 1) Cover art prompt with an explicit "empty area for typography at [TOP | CENTER]." 2) Negative prompt: misspelled title, random letters, barcode, celebrity face, extra limbs, busy center. 3) A type recommendation that is not part of the image prompt: a real font direction (e.g. a high-contrast serif for the title, a plain sans for the author), alignment, and the color taken from the palette. 4) Spine note: width feel and the one element that can bleed onto a spine. 5) Thumbnail test: describe whether the cover still reads at 80 pixels, and one change if it does not. Do not imitate a specific living designer's cover. Do not put a fake quote or a fake bestseller mark on it.
